My name is Sarah and I am delighted to introduce myself as Principal Director of Conexus Tuition Truro.
I knew I wanted to become a teacher from my very first day in Reception! I studied Primary Education at Durham University and was privileged to have the address “The Castle, Durham” during my four-year course. My first teaching position was in the beautiful city of Cambridge where I taught in a boy’s Preparatory School for six years. I was so grateful to build my skills, knowledge and expertise there as I led Mathematics and continued to lead this subject throughout most of my career.
I moved to Cornwall in 1999, the year of the eclipse. I have been so fortunate to live and work in some of the most beautiful places in the South-West, and within such caring communities. My two children were born in Mousehole and they had an idyllic childhood playing on the sandy harbour beach and exploring the tiny lanes. In 2009 I moved to the Isles of Scilly and was privileged to teach at the Five Islands School. I gained lots of opportunities here including teaching Nursery-aged children and Key Stage 3 Maths. After six years, we moved back to the mainland and lived for a short time in the sensational Lost Gardens of Heligan. My son nurtured his love of farming here and has just completed a year at Stoke Climsland Agricultural College. My daughter has also concluded her studies through Plymouth University and hopes to work with pre-school children.
We moved into our “forever” home in Truro last November, and I am grateful every day for our wonderful little city. My border collie Nell keeps me busy on her walks, and I love the fact that I’m only a ten-minute walk away from the tranquillity of the countryside or the vibrancy of the city.
Nurturing children, building confidence and self-belief and providing outstanding education has been a life-long passion for me, and I feel extremely fortunate to have taught thousands of inspiring learners during the past 29 years as a teacher and subject leader. I am very excited to extend the Conexus Tuition family into Cornwall, and I look forward to helping you and your child.
